but as dr. mehta reminded us, this is like the four-mile mark in a marathon. so while we are grateful for the result today, "closure" as a metaphor is more grandiose than the simple meaning of the word. kristen has five more days in the hospital, two more weeks after that before she is back on her feet and perhaps six weeks or more of rehab before she is off and running. (odd how all these cliches apply so literally to kristen's situation!) though today's closure doesn't bring "closure", it does bring a heaping dose of hope.
Hooray! Great to hear all the good news from the last couple of days. We'll all keep playing our roles in the metaphor and continue cheering you both on from the sidelines and providing whatever support we can.

Dear Kristen and Ben, I was so anxious to get home this evening to hear the news. My heart beats with joy and I know you will weather the remaining days with the courage you have already shown. Both of you continue to be in my thoughts and am sending you continued BIG healing energy, & prayers tonight. ReplyDeleteJust a note to say that Patrick Walters and I met your charming daughters yesterday! We dropped off a couple of bags of groceries and your wonderful aunt invited us in for a few minutes. Clara was shy at first but, after Mae put a rainbow cape on her, she soon transformed into "Super Clara!" running around the room. We hope the food brings you nourishment and all the strength you need to get better soon.
